Did you know that bellydancing burns 309 calories per hour (Vegetarian Times, 2005)? Bellydancing is a fun and unique way to exercise, whether you are an aspiring performer or you are simply looking for a workout beyond the ordinary! Be sure to wear comfortable exercise clothing to class, bellydancing costumes are not required! Hip scarves are optional; pants and tights are recommended (instead of skirts) to help train your dance posture (Remember: "If you look good dancing in pants, you will look GREAT in a skirt"). Be sure that you have your doctor's okay before beginning any exercise routine, including bellydancing, and be sure to responsibly monitor yourself during exercise -- like any class, it's okay to push yourself a little within your limits, but do not overdo it. Learning with impatience can cause setbacks and pain; learing with patience encourages competence and skill.
*MayaDance classes focus on technique and stamina for both the aspiring performer and non-performer, but also emphasizes musicality, interpretation, personal expression, and integrity of both the dance form and the dancer.

*Dance classes -- levels 1 through 4 -- provide basic instruction in strengthening, dance steps, coordination, technique, and zills. Choreography and props, when taught, are appropriate to level.
*Master-level technique classes often integrate dance technique polishing with performance and "stage survival" skills, aimed to fine-tune the professional dancer and assist performers in overcoming learning plateaus, expanding and honing individual styles, and expanding abilities.
*Dance-conditioning classes are the perfect companion-class for dancers who wish to gain more stamina, strength, and flexibility.
